Job summary

Meta seeks an industry-leading Research Scientist or Applied Scientist to define and build new modeling approaches for power utilization across its infrastructure.

You will lead development of statistical and machine learning models that monitor power consumption, project peak demand, quantify uncertainty, and inform how Meta maximizes usable power within failure domains while maintaining target reliability levels.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in statistical, ML, simulation, forecasting, optimization, or similar quantitative modeling.
  • Experience leading ambiguous cross-functional programs from problem to deployment and impact.
  • Experience coding in Python, R, C++, Java or similar for data analysis or production systems.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and tradeoffs to varied audiences.
  • Experience influencing technical strategy across teams or organizations.
  • PhD in a quantitative field or equivalent practical experience, or Bachelor’s with substantial work.
  • Experience modeling high-dimensional, noisy, or strongly correlated data in production.
  • Experience with time-series forecasting, Bayesian methods, causal inference, uncertainty quantification.

Responsibilities

  • Define and build new modeling approaches for power utilization across Meta's infrastructure.
  • Develop statistical and ML models to monitor power, project peak demand, and quantify uncertainty.
  • Inform power maximization within failure domains while maintaining target reliability.
  • Translate scientific advances into production systems influencing infrastructure strategy.
