Job summary

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine invites applications for a Research Scientist in the K Lab, Department of Biomedical Sciences, Division of Cardiovascular Biology, Metabolism and Pharmacology. The lab investigates mitochondrial biology, metabolism, genetics, and sex differences across liver, adipose, heart, and hippocampus.

Candidates will perform functional studies on mitochondria, design experiments, mentor students, prepare manuscripts, and contribute to grant proposals.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related field.
• Experience with mitochondrial biology and metabolism is required.
• Ability to design and conduct independent research and write manuscripts.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-depth studies of mitochondrial function and metabolism using liver mitochondria, cells, organoids, and mouse models.
• Elucidate molecular mechanisms regulating mitochondrial function in metabolic and cardiometabolic disease.
• Design and conduct experiments, troubleshoot protocols, and address project challenges.
• Support proposals, write grants, and prepare manuscripts and figures for publications.
• Mentor student researchers and ensure regulatory compliance and proper lab records.
