As a Research Scientist, you'll set up large-scale tests, deploy promising ideas quickly, manage deadlines, and develop new products, processes, or technologies by applying the latest theories. Your work will include creating experiments, prototyping implementations, designing new architectures, and tackling real-world problems across various computer science fields.

You will actively contribute to the research community by sharing and publishing your findings, inspired by internal projects and collaborations with universities and institutes worldwide.

Lead a team of research scientists and software engineers to advance real-time neural rendering for Project Starline. Identify opportunities to improve reconstruction and rendering quality and performance using neural networks, generative AI, and large-scale data curation. Oversee research efforts from prototypes to deployment in a real-time system.

Labs focuses on incubating early-stage efforts to support Google's mission of organizing the world's information. Our team aims to discover and create new ways to enhance core products through exploration and new technologies, building solutions that could transform user interaction with Google. Our goal is to develop impactful new products and capabilities.

The US base salary range for this position is $197,000-$291,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Salary is determined by role, level, location, skills, experience, and education. Your recruiter can provide specific salary details for your location during hiring.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of researchers and engineers, balancing project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.

  • Research, design, and develop deep neural networks for real-time view synthesis and 3D image processing tasks like generating 3D imagery, relighting, background segmentation, and scene understanding.
  • Develop new hardware, software, systems, and processes for large-scale neural rendering data curation.
  • Integrate neural networks into real-time streaming systems.
