Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Research Scientist I/II to advance lentiviral vector purification and analytical workflows. You will perform purification steps (clarification, chromatography, TFF) and evaluate quality via molecular- and cell-based assays, while documenting methods and results.

The role requires a BS or MS in bioengineering or virology with 1–3 years of lab purification experience, plus strong communication and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in bioengineering, virology, or related field (not PhD-level), with relevant lab experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience in protein and/or viral vector purification.
  • Hands-on chromatography and filtration experience, including TFF and depth filtration.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and GraphPad Prism.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on execution of lentiviral vector purification activities, including clarification, chromatography, and TFF.

  • Write and review protocols, technical reports, and technology transfer documents with conclusions and recommendations.

  • Identify root causes, implement solutions, and verify effectiveness.
  • Present scientific data and contribute openly to discussions.
  • Thoroughly document experimental procedures and processes.
  • Collaborate across teams, share knowledge, and train team members as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Essential Requirements:
  • BS or MS in bioengineering, virology, or related field (not PhD-level), with relevant lab experience.

  • Strong coordination, communication, collaboration, learning agility, and self-motivation.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and GraphPad Prism.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Desirable Requirements:
  • BSL2 experience with AAV, lentiviral, or retroviral vector production.
  • Proficiency in aseptic technique, cell culture, molecular biology, and analytical testing.
  • Bioreactor experience.
Compensation (expected):

Research Scientist I: $66,800–$124,000; Research Scientist II: $81,200–$150,800. Includes performance-based cash incentive; annual equity may be considered.
