Job summary

Northeastern University’s Gyori Lab for Computational Biomedicine is seeking an Associate Research Scientist to advance knowledge-grounded AI, NLP, and data harmonization within funded projects. Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent is required.
• Extensive and progressively responsible experience leading and contributing to computational research projects.
• Track record of publications, open-source software, and conference presentations.
• Deep expertise in knowledge-grounded AI / knowledge graphs / LLM / RAG, systems modeling, NLP/ML, data harmonization for biomedical applications.
• Strong scientific software development skills and commitment to reproducible, open research practices.
• Ability to deliver defined project goals and to supervise graduate students and junior researchers.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement computational methods and open-source software in knowledge-grounded AI, systems modeling, NLP, and data harmonization.
• Build domain-relevant applications to benchmark and showcase computational methods.
• Plan and execute research within defined objectives and timelines.
• Contribute to peer-reviewed publications and presentations describing the work.
• Supervise graduate students and junior team members in their research.
• Draft new grant proposals and assist in budget/purchasing activities.
