Job Description And Duties

There is one vacancy being advertised across multiple counties. The incumbent will be headquartered in the county nearest the residence of the selected candidate. The counties are: Sacramento or Contra Costa.

This is a hybrid position with up to 5% of travel required to assigned Local Health Jurisdictions (LHJs) or departmental in person meetings.

The Research Scientist (RS) will be directly assigned one or two of the following Regional Public Health Office regions: Rural North, Bay Area, Greater Sierra-Sacramento, Central California, Southern California, and Los Angeles, based on program need and fit with partners.

The RS advances statewide modernization by strengthening Local Health Jurisdiction (LHJ) analytic capacity, improving data infrastructure, and supporting broad public health projects through regional technical assistance. The role centers on equity, systems improvement, and the implementation of statewide public health priorities.

This position is a 12-month Limited Term (LT) and may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.
