GenScript USA Inc/ProBio Inc. in Piscataway, NJ is seeking a Research Scientist II, Gene R&D to lead development of high-throughput sequencing library prep methods and data interpretation.

The role requires a PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry or related field, 2+ years in NGS workflows, and proficiency with Python, R or Java; onsite, collaborative, with strong project management.

Qualifications

• PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry or related field.
• 2+ years in developing scalable NGS workflows in pharma/biotech.
• Experience designing library preps across Illumina and ONT platforms.
• Broad molecular biology and microbiology knowledge.
• Experience building bioinformatics pipelines.
• Proficiency in Python, R or Java.
• Experience with clinical NGS library prep is a plus.
• Experience with cell-free protein expression is a plus.

Salary:

$70,000 - $90,000 dependent upon experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize high-throughput sequencing library prep methods.
• Manage project timeline and leverage internal resources to push project forward.
• Generate, analyze, interpret and present data to a broader team.
• Closely communicate with other teams to ensure smooth tech transfer.

Requirements

• PhD. degrees in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry or related fields.
• > 2 years of relevant experience in developing scalable NGS workflow in pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
• Direct experience in designing customized library preps across different high-throughput sequencing platforms. (Illumina and ONT)
• Broad molecular biology and microbiology knowledge with the ability to apply scientific intuition and interpretation to solve problems.
• Deep knowledge and hands-on experience in using and building both standard and customized bioinformatics pipeline.
• Proficiency in at least one of the common programming languages (Python, R, Java)
• Extensive experience in analyzing biological datasets and various file formats (FASTQ, BAM, VCF etc.)
• Experience with the high-throughput NGS library prep workflow for clinical samples in a plus.
• Experience with cell-free protein expression is a plus.

Strong collaborative instinct with good time and resource management skills.
