Leidos is seeking a Research Scientist I to support the NAMRU-SA Expeditionary and Trauma Medicine Department in San Antonio, TX. The role involves designing and conducting protocol-driven research addressing military medicine, potentially leading projects from concept to completion.

Responsibilities include preparing subjects, data analysis, writing proposals and reports, mentoring staff, and maintaining compliant lab practices; the position supports DoD mission goals.

Responsibilities

• Develops and conducts protocol-driven scientific research addressing various aspects of military medicine; may lead independent research projects from conception to completion
• Writes protocol-driven research proposals, animal use protocols, human use protocols, technical reports, final reports, and peer-reviewed manuscripts in coordination with Government Principal Investigator (PI)
• Develops various presentation materials and presents findings at technical and professional meetings
• Prepares experimental subjects, sets up experimental equipment, and aids in training and development of experimental subjects for experimental procedures in accordance with approved animal or human use protocols
• Provides support in development of establishment of in vivo and in vitro model systems, data acquisition, and data analysis
• Assists in the maintenance of a clean and operational lab space as required
• Routes administrative paperwork related to scientific products
• Maintains data and records securely, including the use of an assigned laboratory notebook
• May perform surgical procedures on animal models for both survival and non-survival
• Mentors junior research associates and research technicians

Pay Range:

Pay Range $69,550.00 - $125,725.00
