TikTok in San Jose is seeking a Research Scientist Graduate in Monetization Technology for 2027 start. You will help build a next-generation moderation and content understanding system for monetization, with a strong focus on scalable ML models and advertiser value.

Ideal candidates hold a master's in CS or related field, have ML/NLP experience, and are proficient in Python with PyTorch or TensorFlow. This on-site role offers a competitive base salary and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in CS, SE, Math, or related technical field; exceptional Bachelor's with strong research output considered.
• Research experience in Ads, Search, Recommender Systems, NLP, CV, Multimodal, or Agent tech.
• Solid understanding of large language model methodology (pre-training, post-training/ alignment, evaluation).
• Ability to formulate research problems, design controlled experiments, and draw conclusions from ambiguous results.
• Proficient in Python and at least one DL framework (PyTorch or TensorFlow).
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and translating research into real-world products.

Responsibilities

• Build a leading moderation system enabling end-to-end capabilities for accurate rejection decisions, interpretable reasoning, and intelligent remediation.
• Collaborate across disciplines with global teams to pursue excellence in monetization technology.
• Develop scalable ML models for a next-generation content understanding system for TikTok monetization.
• Deliver solutions that balance user experience with advertiser value and risk control.
