Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin's Department of Chemistry is seeking several Research Science/Engineering Assistants to join the Ku-lung (Ken) Hsu laboratory on a fixed-term basis. Positions are open to bachelor’s and master’s graduates with 0–10 years of experience, located on the UT Main Campus, with a 40-hour workweek and start as early as Oct 19, 2026.

Responsibilities include lab management, ordering, rodent care if needed, and a range of molecular biology, proteomics, and analytical

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a scientific discipline.
• 1+ years of laboratory experience preferred.
• Maintain a comprehensive laboratory notebook.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Experience with at least one: chemical proteomics, biochemistry, cell biology, mass spectrometry, synthetic chemistry, flow cytometry, molecular biology or analytical instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with routine lab management, ordering and inventory, and equipment maintenance; participate in group meetings and provide progress reports.
• Rodent care and related experiments as needed, including supporting immunology, cancer, or neuroscience studies.
• Perform cell isolations/culture, molecular biology, chemistry synthesis, and operate lab instruments including mass spectrometers as needed.
• Support organic synthesis tasks including setup, isolation, and analytical techniques like flash chromatography, NMR and HPLC.
