Job summary

Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School seeks a Research Scientist to lead a multi-site longitudinal study on education, workforce, and healthcare pathways. Based at the Mossavar-Rahmani Center, you will design research agendas, oversee data collection, analysis, and dissemination to policymakers and practitioners.

The role requires a Ph.D. with 3+ years in mixed-methods research, supervision experience, and strong communication.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in education, economics, public policy, or related field with 3+ years of research experience.
  • Experience designing and leading complex mixed-methods studies.
  • Experience supervising research staff or teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, implementation, and refinement of a multi-year longitudinal study examining education and workforce outcomes across multiple sites.
  • Develop study methodologies and data collection protocols for rigorous, policy-relevant research.
  • Oversee quantitative and qualitative data collection, management, analysis, visualization, and interpretation across data sources.
  • Design and oversee research infrastructure, including data systems, reporting processes, dashboards, and QA procedures.
  • Provide methodological guidance to participating sites to strengthen data collection and reporting.
  • Manage day-to-day execution of the research portfolio, timelines, budgets, vendors, and partnerships.
  • Supervise research assistants and project staff, mentoring and ensuring quality.
  • Lead preparation of reports, policy briefs, publications, and presentations.
  • Represent the Project on Workforce in meetings and conferences with educators, employers, policymakers, funders.
