Job description

EvolutionaryScale’s mission is to develop artificial intelligence to understand biology for the benefit of human health and society, through open, safe, and responsible research, and in partnership with the scientific community.

Over the next ten years, AI will transform biological design, making molecules and entire cells programmable. We aim to develop the foundational models for biology that enable this transformation.

We prioritize individuals who have demonstrated excellence and creativity in their respective domains, regardless of specific domain expertise. Having both biology and AI expertise is beneficial but not mandatory.

Our team conducts both deep research and product development, building frontier biological AI models and deploying them to researchers at the forefront of life sciences. This requires elite engineers and scientists working collaboratively to solve significant research and product challenges. We are assembling a world-class, multidisciplinary team spanning AI research, engineering, biology research, and business roles, emphasizing strong communication and collaboration skills.

The EvolutionaryScale team is based in two locations:

  • San Francisco and New York. We support flexible work schedules and locations but expect team members to work at least half of most weeks from one of our offices.

The role

  • Stay current with the latest developments in AI or biology and contribute to advancing these fields.
  • Help design and execute the company's long-term research roadmap.
  • Lead research efforts for foundation model projects or contribute to them.
  • Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and scientists at partner organizations to deploy our technology and research, representing the company effectively.
  • Implement software for research initiatives and collaborate with team members.
  • Engage with the scientific community through impactful publications and open-source contributions.

Qualifications (preferred)

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python.
  • PhD in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience implementing deep learning models with PyTorch or similar libraries.
  • Ability to plan, run ML experiments, analyze results, and communicate findings.

Accepted file formats

  • pdf, doc, docx, txt, rtf
