Qualifications

• A completed or nearly completed PhD in computational social science, communication, HCI, sociology, political science, psychology, statistics, or a related field.
• Peer-reviewed publications where you were a primary author.
• Working command of graduate-level statistical methodology common to social science.
• Experience analyzing large-scale telemetry and behavioral datasets.
• Familiarity with machine learning, including transformer models and fine-tuning basics.
• Fundamentals of computing: file systems, software libraries, databases, SQL.
• Ability to read and check code produced by others.

Responsibilities

• Co-design and run studies that compare system-generated responses with human responses using qualitative and quantitative measures.
• Design, justify, and hone measures of performance.
• Apply state-of-the-art statistical techniques for survey methodology and large-scale data analysis.
• Design evaluations and experiments with pre-specified analysis plans.
• Oversee human rating studies, including rater training and inter-rater reliability.
• Collect data from third-party sources and directly from participants, including longitudinal studies.
• Contribute to the research agenda for new modeling approaches, including model calibration.
• Specify analyses precisely for engineers to implement and co-author papers and presentations.
