Research Scientist Responsibilities:

  1. Perform research and develop solutions to computer software and hardware problems.
  2. Research, design, and develop new optimization algorithms to improve the efficiency and performance of Meta’s platforms.
  3. Design and implement large-scale distributed software systems to serve numerous complex requests simultaneously without failure.
  4. Utilize research background, train new ranking models, and run experiments.
  5. Create tools for migrating large-scale user data for new products and infrastructure development.
  6. Apply machine learning, statistics, or data techniques to build algorithms.
  7. Gather, synthesize, and prioritize system requirements from stakeholders and create feature roadmaps.
  8. Analyze and resolve system engineering challenges.
  9. Work on diverse problems requiring data analysis and evaluation of factors.
  10. Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods for solutions.
  11. Work remotely from anywhere in the U.S.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Doctorate degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
  2. Completion of a university-level course, research project, internship, or thesis in areas such as algorithms, data structures, systems software, or related topics.
  3. Experience in solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches.
  4. Experience analyzing complex, high-volume data from various sources.
  5. Ability to communicate complex research clearly and effectively.
  6. Research experience related to machine learning, NLP, recommendation systems, pattern recognition, signal processing, data mining, AI, or computer vision.
  7. Experience in developing scalable classifiers and tools using machine learning, statistics, or mathematical models.
  8. Proficiency in Java, C++, Perl, PHP, or Python.

Compensation: $232,652/year to $290,180/year + bonus + equity + benefits
