Job summary

Texas A&M University seeks a Research Scientist Agency to conduct complex independent research and contribute to publications. You will collaborate with faculty, oversee worksite readiness, manage supplies, and analyze data to advance our research aims in a multidisciplinary environment.

Ideal candidates will hold a PhD, have 6+ years of related experience, and demonstrate strong writing, presentation, and collaboration skills within a dynamic team in College Station.

Qualifications

  • PhD in a biological or related field is required.
  • Six years of related research experience in a specialized field.
  • BSL-2 training and related laboratory experience.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture, immunostaining, western blot.
  • Knowledge of innate immune system and proteomics data analysis.
  • Strong publication record and ability to write papers.
  • Ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct complex independent research in their field of expertise.
  • Apply techniques learned through education and experience to address the research question.
  • Write and contribute to research papers, articles, and publications.
  • Collaborate with other researchers and faculty.
  • Oversee preparation and cleaning of the worksite.
  • Organize the worksite and determine necessary supplies.
  • Analyze research data and summarize results.
  • Assist with grant acquisition.
  • Mentor student researchers and postdocs on related projects.
  • Prepare presentation materials for groups and sponsors.
  • Participate in technical progress reports for sponsors.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct complex independent research in their field of expertise.
  • Utilize techniques and strategies taught to them by their education and experiences to work towards solving the question presented by their research project.
  • Write and contribute to research papers, articles, and publications.
  • Collaborate with other researchers and/or faculty.
  • Oversee the preparation and cleaning of worksite.
  • Organize worksite and determine what supplies are necessary to continue research in an effective manner.
  • Analyze research data and summarize results.
  • Assist with grant acquisition.
  • Assist student researchers, Postdoctoral Research Associates, Assistant Research Scientists, and/or Associate Research Scientists who are working on research related to the project.
  • May supervise assigned staff and/or students.
  • Prepare presentation materials on research topics that may be presented to small and/or large groups.
  • Participate in the preparation of required technical progress reports to research sponsors.
Qualifications
  • PhD in a related field.
  • Six years of related experience in a specialized and relevant field of research.
  • BSL-2 training and experience.
  • Mouse and rat handling, injections, euthanasia, and necropsy training and experience.
  • Experience with analysis of proteomics data.
  • Knowledge of innate immune system.
  • Experience writing papers.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture, immunostaining, western blots.
  • Experience with drug development programs and preclinical drug development work.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, presentation and analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work independently as part of a multidisciplinary collaborative team.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Special Note

Due to this position’s salary having all or a portion of it being funded by grants or contracts, the continuing salary and overall employment is contingent upon availability of these funds in the future.

Schedule

May have to work on the weekend and/or after normal hours. May travel as required.
