Job description

Research Scientists at IBM drive the leading edge of quantum computing technologies with the industry’s most advanced hardware and software. Join an elite team of experimentalists in quantum computing building a path towards scalable fault tolerant quantum computation.

Your role and responsibilities

A successful candidate will have a strong understanding of device characterization and physics, particularly room-temperature testing of Josephson junctions for multi-qubit quantum processors. The candidate will design schemes to scale characterization throughput on a variety of devices intended for a cryogenic environment. They will devise novel characterization methodologies and architectures to enabling predictive yield-assessments on large-scale quantum processors. The candidate is expected to disseminate research results through impactful patents and publications and represent IBM in professional and academic meetings and societies.

  • Proven record of research accomplishment.
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics, or related experience in device characterization.
  • Familiarity with programming languages (Python or equivalent).

  • Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related experience in device characterization.
  • At least 5 years of experience in device physics and characterization, IC design, electrical test and equipment.
  • Familiarity with 200/300mm wafer probing stations.
