Job summary

University of Kansas Medical Center is seeking a Research Project Manager to oversee complex research portfolios within CIRO, coordinating sponsored projects with faculty, partners, and sponsors. You will provide administrative support, manage extramural funding, and ensure compliance across the project lifecycle.

The role emphasizes collaboration with investigators, proposal development, and process improvements to advance institutional research priorities while maintaining quality standards

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of experience in business administration or related field; education substituted year-for-year.
• Five (5) years of experience in research administration, project management, or grant management.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned research portfolios in collaboration with faculty investigators, institutional partners, and sponsors to support project goals and institutional priorities.
• Support planning, coordination, and implementation of research projects and initiatives with research teams.
• Administer extramural and intramural funds, including budget monitoring, projections, reporting, and resource planning.
• Support proposal development and collaborations that advance institutional priorities.
• Serve as liaison among sponsors, principal investigators, collaborators, and internal stakeholders to facilitate communication.
• Ensure compliance with policies, sponsor requirements, contracts, and SOPs throughout project lifecycle.
• Conduct portfolio reviews to monitor projections, milestones, and objectives.
• Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
• Supervise and train staff to support performance and compliance with standards.
• Partner with Director to develop SOPs and process improvements.
