Job description

The Division of Pulmonary is seeking a Research Program Assistant II who will be tasked with the following duties and responsibilities.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Data entry, management, and calculations using a computerized database, word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Reviewing data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assisting in the coordination of studies, including facilitating administration of study interventions, coordinating with hospital personnel/clinicians.
  • Orienting new staff to study procedures.
  • Collecting and maintaining staff records including certificates of completion of mandatory IRB classes.
  • Assist in research activities to maintain cohort retention by calling and mailing patients with reminders of their appointments, and scheduling and completing research visits.
  • Administering standardized surveys to research subject via phone, or via in-patient, clinic, or home visits.
  • Collecting study data from the electronic medical record.
  • Maintaining logs of patient screening, data collection, and follow-up attempts.
  • Maintaining compliance with HIPAA and IRB regulations and guidelines.
  • Attending regular group meetings.
  • Preparing study documents for IRB submission.


Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certifications
  • All HIPAA and related courses must be completed and appropriate exams passed with necessary certification within 2 weeks of the start date.


Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent
  • Two years related experience
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Some college courses.

Salary Range

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.

Education and Experience Equivalency
Please refer to the job description above to see which forms of equivalency are permitted for this position. If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines: JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
