Job summary

Saint Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ, seeks a Research Post Doctoral Fellow in the Pharmacokinetics Laboratory to advance brain cancer translational research under faculty guidance.

The fellow will develop analytical methods, perform PK analyses, contribute to publications, and train staff while pursuing independent, externally fundable research.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Medical Sciences, or related field.
• Strong background in chemical/pharmaceutical sciences and translational research.
• Experience with LC-MS/MS-based method development/validation and PK data analysis preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop analytical methods for drugs, drug candidates, metabolites and biomarkers using UHPLC and LC-MS/MS.
• Perform pharmacokinetic data analyses and interpretation.
• Prepare manuscripts and assist in publishing research results.
• Supervise and train laboratory staff and researchers.
• Deliver research presentations at local, national, and international meetings.
• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and safety documentation in compliance with CAP/CLIA and HIPAA.

As a Research Post Doctoral Fellow in Pharmacokinetics Laboratory, you will actively engage in laboratory, translational, or clinical research under faculty guidance. Your primary objective is to advance your specialized understanding and practical skills.

Every day you will contribute to ongoing research by conducting experiments, analyzing data, or participating in clinical investigations. This experience aims to build competencies for independent investigative work.

The Ivy Brain Tumor Center at Barrow Neurological Institute is a non-conventional non-profit program offering state-of-the-art clinical trials for patients with the most aggressive form of brain cancer. It is home to the largest collection of Phase 0 trials for brain tumors in the world. Our multidisciplinary team of brain tumor specialists and scientists are accelerating drug discovery and precision medicine in neuro-oncology to identify the most promising first-in-class therapies for brain tumor patients.

Job Description: To develop brain targeting therapeutics via rational design and neuro-pharmacokinetic assessment through preclinical and clinical studies.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: We are looking for an individual to join the Pharmacokinetics (PK) Lab as a postdoctoral associate. The candidate should have a strong background in chemical/pharmaceutical sciences with a reasonable working knowledge of translational research. Candidates who have experience in LC-MS/MS-based method development/validation and can demonstrate competency in pharmacokinetic data analysis will be preferred. The candidate should be able to work well in highly collaborative environment and have excellent communication skills. Potential areas of application include bioanalysis medicinal chemistry drug development drug PK organic synthesis method validation biomarker analysis and PK modeling. The candidate is encouraged to apply for internal and external grants.

Key responsibilities include:

• Development validation and implementation of analytical methods for various drugs drug candidates metabolites and biomarkers employing UHPLC and LC-MS/MS techniques.
• Performing pharmacokinetic data analyses.
• Manuscript preparation and publishing.
• Supervision and training of laboratory supporting research staff.
• Preparation and delivery of research presentations at local meetings national and international conferences.
• General operation maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment including UHPLC and LC-MS/MS instruments.
• Preparation and maintenance of required laboratory safety documentation and adherence to the guidelines and regulations in compliance with CAP/CLIA and HIPAA rules.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Research experience in organic synthesis bioanalysis medicinal or pharmaceutical chemistry areas.
• Experience with UHPLC or LCMS-based assay development.
• Experience with rational drug design and development physicochemical characterization.
• Experience in biomedical research (cellular techniques and animal handling).
• Experience with maintenance and troubleshooting of LC and MS systems.
• Good organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and cohesively as part of a team.
