Saint Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Pharmacy Supervisor to lead clinical pharmacy services, ensure safe medication use, and guide a team of pharmacists and technicians with uncompromising patient care.

In this role, you will supervise daily operations, review prescriptions for safety, collaborate with clinicians, drive efficiency, and promote learning. The ideal candidate has PharmD or PharmD equivalent, AZ license, and prior supervisory experience.

Qualifications

  • PharmD or BS in Pharmacy with 2+ years related experience.
  • Arizona Pharmacist license (AZ) to practice.
  • Pharmacy supervisory/lead experience or Admin Residency preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily workload and staffing in the department.
  • Monitor labor budget and take corrective actions.
  • Develop policies and procedures to maximize pharmacy usage.
  • Ensure inventory controls align with standards.
  • Supervise and mentor pharmacists, technicians, and students.
  • Coordinate compounding and dispensing per orders.
  • Provide clinical collaboration with doctors and nurses.

Job description

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Pharmacy Supervisor, you will be a vital leader and clinical expert, ensuring safe, efficient, and compassionate pharmaceutical care delivery, while guiding your team to uphold medication management standards.


Every day, you will lead pharmacy operations, including workflow and performance. You'll meticulously review prescriptions for safety (interactions, dosing, allergies), authorize them for technicians, and perform final dispensing checks, ensuring expert oversight. You'll also collaborate with doctors/nurses, providing expertise to optimize patient treatment and enhance services.


To be successful in this role, you will combine comprehensive clinical knowledge with proven leadership, team management, and problem-solving skills. Your ability to foster learning, drive operational excellence, and deliver innovative, patient-focused care is essential.



  • Oversees daily workload and ensures the department is adequately and appropriately staffed.

  • Monitors labor budget/expenses, identifies variances and takes corrective action to remedy within designated scope of authority.

  • Develops, in conjunction with manager, programs, policies and procedures to maximize pharmacy usage and enhance customer service.

  • Ensures inventory control measures are being followed in accordance with department standards.

  • Ensures staff are compliant with policies and procedures.

  • May serve as the Pharmacy representative in management, administrative and/or interdisciplinary meetings.

  • Handles customer service/provider complaints.

  • Coordinates and oversees pharmacy aspects related to compounding and dispensing of drugs in accordance with medication orders issued by authorized medical care providers.

  • Ensures the timely distribution of medications.

  • Oversees pharmacist and pharmacy technician workflows and works with staff to create efficiencies

  • Supervises, instructs and mentors pharmacist staff, interns, residents, externs, students, technicians and non-pharmacy staff in the execution of duties and ensures adherence to policies and procedures in a positive, constructive and motivating manner.

  • Responsible for hiring staff, performance management, and discipline of staff.

  • Promotes education and development of team members.

  • Orients employees and holds regular staff meetings to keep employees apprised of all matters relevant to successful job performance.

Required



  • Doctor Of Pharmacy PharmD and 2+ years related experience, or

  • Bachelors Of Science in pharmacy and 2+ years related experience, and

  • Pharmacist: AZ,


Preferred



  • 1+ year of supervisory or lead experience or successful completion of a Pharmacy Administrative Residency
