Job summary

City of Hope's Beckman Research Institute seeks a Research Business Manager to lead daily operations of Research Business Administration, guiding a mid-sized portfolio and implementing strong procedures. You will supervise staff, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with policies and sponsors while partnering with principal investigators.

Candidates bring extensive research administration experience and strong leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 3 years of administration experience in an academic research or healthcare environment.
• 2+ years of progressively responsible management experience.
• 5+ years of business management experience in an academic research or healthcare environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cost transfers and extramural funding oversight.
• Partner with Principal Investigators to support grant development, compliance, IP, and clinical trials.
• Review purchasing, travel, reimbursement and expenses; ensure sponsor and institutional guidelines.
• Collaborate with Office of Sponsored Research and key stakeholders on operations and policies.
• Lead faculty and staff recruitment, onboarding, visa processes and timekeeping administration.
• Oversee departmental business ops including facilities, safety, and equipment maintenance.
• Supervise and develop Research Operations Analysts and administrative staff.
• Provide HR oversight and foster a productive, collaborative work environment.
• Support strategic planning with department leadership and financial analyses.
• Represent Research Business Operations on committees and special projects.
