Position Summary

We are seeking a diligent and organized Research Manager to manage a key part of our research process. In this important role, you will be responsible for identifying and analyzing industries and companies that align with our clients’ investment theses. You will be instrumental in managing and executing our market research and target identification strategy, ensuring our teams have a consistent flow of high-quality, comprehensively analyzed companies that fit our clients’ criteria.

This job is ideal for a hands-on professional with a background in market research and/or finance who is ready to take charge of a critical process and lead the execution efforts of this research function while growing within a dynamic firm.

Key Responsibilities

Process Leadership & Execution

  • Own the end-to-end target identification process, from initial screening and workflow design to delivering qualified targets to deal teams.
  • Execute the firm's research strategy by managing the process of identifying, analyzing, and qualifying potential investment targets.
  • Design, implement, and refine scalable research workflows and best practices to increase team efficiency and the quality of output.
  • Support senior leadership by providing the foundational research and target lists needed for business development and client engagement.

Research & Analysis

  • Perform and manage detailed, company-level research to identify opportunities and trends that align with our clients’ investment theses.
  • Create clear and helpful reports, company profiles, and industry summaries for review by senior staff and deal teams.
  • Use a wide range of research tools and databases to uncover and confirm information on target companies.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for target identification research, working closely with internal research and sourcing teams.
  • Present research findings clearly to internal teams and support senior members in their preparations for client or stakeholder presentations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure research work is aligned with broader organizational goals.

Process Improvement & Innovation

  • Stay updated with market trends and new research tools to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the target identification process.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, evaluating, and suggesting new tools, databases, and methodologies.
  • Manage research projects from start to finish, ensuring they meet deadlines and quality standards.
  • Act as the primary mentor and guide for junior research analysts or interns, overseeing their work, providing feedback, and fostering their professional development.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Experience: 4-5 years of experience in a role focused on research and analysis, such as in market research or financial analysis.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to research and analyze information (both numbers and concepts) with a sharp eye for detail.
  • Technical Skills: Skilled in using Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint), CRM systems (like Salesforce), and data platforms. Adept at learning new technology in a short amount of time.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to take complex information and make it easy to understand.
  • Organization: Great organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at once and prioritize effectively.
  • Personal Attributes: Self-starter who takes ownership of their work. Professional, accountable, and works well with others.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Previous experience managing projects or informally guiding junior analysts.
  • An interest in learning and applying new research tools, including AI-driven platforms.
