Job description

Obermayer is pleased to announce an opportunity for an experienced Research Librarian/Analyst in our Philadelphia office. This position reports directly to our Director of Knowledge Management and supports the information needs of our attorneys, paralegals, administrative departments, and staff. Our ideal candidate will be highly organized and detail-oriented with a strong legal and general research background, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the abilities to work independently, prioritize reference requests, and respect established deadlines.

– Effectively execute a high level of legal and general reference requests and effectively package results into a clear, concise format

– Obtain documents from state and federal courts, as well as various government agencies

– Coordinate and monitor news and client alerts

– Research and compile competitive and business intelligence reports

– Maintain and grow the library intranet site

– Work with library patrons to fully define their information needs and expectations

– Assist in identifying, suggesting, and testing new information resources

– Assist in print collection development and maintain the library catalog system

– Work directly with database vendors to design custom solutions

– Participate in trials, evaluate, and recommend new information resources

– Special projects and additional duties, as assigned

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of legal research experience in a professional environment required
  • JD or MLS preferred but not required. Equivalent experience will also be considered
  • Thorough knowledge of legal and general research resources, including Lexis, Westlaw, Bloomberg, NewsBank, etc.
  • Skilled in public records searching
  • Ability to independently problem solve, perform complex research, and synthesize data
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize research assignments
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Ability to learn new skills and research tools as information needs evolve
