Qualifications

Participates in the design and modification of research protocols. Calculates, transcribes, and analyzes data using advanced statistical techniques. Composes and may present sections of research reports and manuscripts.The lab tech is responsible for quality control, freezer inventory systems and maintenance of lab equipment. Projects will include assays on human biospecimens collected over several years during a longitudinal project. Working with study investigators and managers, they will be responsible for coordinating sample workflow and will optimize design of current processing protocols. Applicant will present progress of assigned projects at regular meetings with study team. Attention to detail, excellent communication (oral and written), phone, and computer skills are necessary. This position plays an essential role in the successful completion of multiple clinical research protocols being conducted in the Asthma Research Center.Carries out a broad range of technically advanced research activities and procedures; evaluates conclusions and has considerable latitude to modify or devise methods and techniques as necessary to achieve desired results; typically supervises technical and sometimes administrative elements of the research unit.Does this position require Patient Care? Participates in the development and planning for the implementation of procedures for research studies evaluating respiratory treatments and medications.2. Independently performs a variety of routine tests following established methodologies. Routine tests may include separation and quantitation of labeled and unlabeled lipids by TLC, GC, and HPLC. Techniques will include ELISA assays and evaporation procedures.3. Performs advanced data analysis using advanced statistical techniques..4. Responsible for the oversight and coordination of all lab activities, including quality assurance.5. Responsible for troubleshooting problems and instructing others in highly specialized techniques.6. Maintains equipment and supply inventory in accordance with departmental procedures.7. Meets regularly to discuss progress of work with supervisor.8. Reviews, understands, and obtains appropriate certifications for study specific protocols, the laboratory and ARC procedures.9. Prepares and presents data reports as directed. Proficiency with MS Excel and proficiency in statistical programming language (R, python, SAS, SPSS, etc) is a must.10.
