The University of Virginia’s Department of Pathology – Kadin Lab is seeking a Laboratory Research Technician with a strong science background to support research and laboratory activities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with cell culture, molecular biology techniques, and familiarity with biosafety regulations.

Key duties include cell culture, RNA/DNA extraction, RT-PCR, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and light microscopy, with careful recordkeeping

Qualificações

• Education: Associate's degree required; may accept equivalent combination of experience.
• Experience: 2+ years of lab experience, including student experience.
• L icensure: None.

Responsabilidades

• Perform laboratory procedures supporting research, clinical, autopsy/necropsy, or geological services.
• Conduct cell culture and cryopreservation of cells.
• Execute RNA and DNA extraction, RT-PCR, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and light microscopy techniques.
• Ensure biosafety and laboratory safety regulations and sanitation protocols.
• Apply knowledge of research and testing procedures, and animal handling, care, and welfare practices.
• Provide limited surgical assistance when required.
• Maintain accurate records and utilize word processing and statistical software (e.g., GraphPad Prism) for data analysis and reporting.
• Collaborate frequently with co‑workers, supervisors, students, faculty, and research staff to discuss study techniques, results, and animal care.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
