A leading research hospital in Boston seeks a motivated laboratory technician responsible for conducting experiments and analyzing data. Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree and have prior laboratory experience. The Rajagopal Lab studies the airway epithelium and its interaction with the immune system during various inflammatory and infectious diseases. Our laboratory is specifically interested in studying the antigen uptake and delivery mechanisms by the airway epithelium and its role in mounting pulmonary immune responses during viral and bacterial infections using in vitro airway epithelial and mouse models. The individual hired for this position will have some experience with basic cell biology and a high degree of computer literacy and organizational skills. This person will be involved in human and mouse studies using a variety of molecular, cellular techniques including, but not limited to flow-cytometry, DNA and RNA extraction, PCR and real-time PCR analysis, ELISA-based analyses, immunohistochemistry and fluorescence microscopy. This person will also perform mouse studies including disease modeling, surgery/procedures, husbandry, and bacterial and animal cell culture. This position is an excellent opportunity to work with a collaborative and collegial group of lung biology researchers focused on understanding the epithelial mechanisms of immune activation.
Summary: Responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, organizing and preparing samples, conducting experiments, and recording and analyzing data.
