Job summary

The University of South Florida seeks a Research Lab Manager to oversee daily operations of a large, multidisciplinary laboratory focused on host-pathogen interactions during Staphylococcus aureus infection. You will manage personnel, supplies, compliance, equipment, and shared resources to keep the lab productive and compliant.

The role includes conducting pilot studies, method development, and exploratory experiments to support emerging directions within the lab.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum of 1 year of laboratory research experience in an academic, government, or biotechnology setting.
• MS degree in Microbiology, Immunology, Biomedical Sciences (preferred).
• Experience with biosafety and laboratory safety compliance programs (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee daily laboratory operations for a large research group.
• Manage laboratory inventory, reagents, and supplies; track freezer inventories.
• Oversee equipment maintenance, calibration, service contracts and repairs.
• Coordinate purchasing, vendor relations, and budget monitoring.
• Assist PI with administrative tasks related to laboratory management.
• Perform exploratory experiments and pilot studies to support new research directions.
