Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with at least 1 year of animal care experience.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work with nonhuman primates and other laboratory animals without compromising their health.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine duties related to animal care in a research setting.
• Prepare food and feed animals, administer medications, maintain sanitary conditions, observe animal conditions and behavior, and collect specimens.
• Assist in animal restraint, housing maintenance, and minor cage upkeep.
• Weekend work and overtime hours are required.
• Assess and maintain security of animals in the primary enclosure.
• May be designated as essential personnel during storms or disasters; follow relevant emergency procedures.
• If required to work during closures, provide current contact information and stay reachable for updates.
• Adhere to biosafety requirements and vaccination policies as applicable.
• Comply with drug/alcohol policies if working in ABSL3 containment areas.
