Job summary

Cedars-Sinai is seeking motivated candidates for a Research Internship in Los Angeles. The role offers up to 40 hours per week on meaningful research projects and collaboration with experienced professionals.

Open to undergraduate seniors pursuing STEM degrees or recent STEM graduates within 12 months of graduation. Interns will gain exposure to basic, translational and clinical research under supervision, including IRB and Human Subjects training.

Qualifications

• Available to work up to 40 hours per week for the duration of the internship.
• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in a STEM degree program with senior-year standing; OR Completed a bachelor's degree in a STEM field within the past 12 months.
• Bachelor's Degree in Life/Physical Sciences or related field, which includes a minimum of two years lab coursework - preferred
• Basic understanding of general research objectives.

Responsibilities

• Work up to 40 hours per week on meaningful research projects under supervision.
• Collaborate with Postdoctoral Scientist, senior-level Research Associate and/or Principal Investigator.
• Experience and observe basic, translational and/or clinical research.
• Be oriented to the Institutional Review Board and other Human Subjects courses and be introduced to new research practices and techniques.

Description
We are seeking motivated candidates for our Research Intern opportunity. This internship offers the opportunity to work up to 40 hours per week on meaningful research projects while collaborating with experienced professionals. We welcome applications from undergraduate students in their senior year who are pursuing a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) degree, as well as recent graduates with a bachelor's degree in a STEM field. Candidates who have already completed their bachelor's degree should have graduated within the past year to be eligible for this internship.

The Research Internship program provides students and trainees an opportunity to develop basic research skills. Interns in this program are provided the opportunity to experience and observe many different aspects of basic, translational and/or clinical research. This program offers interns a unique experience, which is intended to provide a wealth of knowledge about the numerous options for a career in healthcare research. Typically lasting not more than a twelve-month period, this internship will expose participants to a diverse spectrum of clinical and non-clinical based research investigations. Under direct supervision from the assigned Postdoctoral Scientist, senior-level Research Associate and/or Principal Investigator, the intern will be provided with basic research instruction, will be oriented to the Institutional Review Board and other Human Subjects courses, and will be introduced to new and innovative research practices and techniques.
