Job description

Research Intern: Machine Learning for Modeling Human-AI Group Interaction - Honda Research Institute USA

Job Number: P26INT-17

Honda Research Institute USA (HRI-US) is seeking a research intern to develop machine learning models for understanding how interactions evolve within groups of three or more human and AI participants. The intern will design, implement, and evaluate models using language, speech, visual behavior, or participation patterns to continuously infer the state of a multi-party interaction. The research focuses on group-level interaction processes that extend beyond an isolated participant or a dyadic exchange. The intern will investigate how interaction signals reflect changes in participation, coordination, and adaptation among group members. Relevant approaches include multimodal representation learning, temporal modeling, natural language processing, social signal processing, and simulation with multiple AI agents. This position emphasizes modeling group interaction dynamics.
