Job summary

The Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP) is seeking a remote Research Intern for the 2026-2027 academic year. You will assist with quantitative and qualitative research on federal/state/institutional equity policies, college access, affordability, and postsecondary value, focusing on underserved populations.

Work is remote, with participation in meetings, literature reviews, data collection, and the development of reports and advocacy materials.

Qualifications

  • Availability to work part-time, at least 20-25 hours per week through fall and spring (Oct 2026–May 2027).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis, data collection, and higher education data sets preferred.
  • Some experience with project management preferred.
  • Keen interest in postsecondary education research and advocacy in an equity-minded org.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-through skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and with a dynamic team.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office and familiarity with Zoom/Microsoft Teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support research with literature reviews, data collection, and analyses on postsecondary issues.
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations, memos, and other materials communicating findings.
  • Assist with planning and logistics for convenings.
  • Collaborate with other departments and staff as needed.
  • Attend select external meetings/events and share key takeaways.
