The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced integrative therapist to work alongside the integrative team at the Integrative Therapies Program (ITP) at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center. The research integrative therapist (RIT) will provide integrative services to children, adolescents, and adults with cancer in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. Attending medical and integrative rounds, chart documentation, and working within the medical team will be a daily component of the position. The RIT will also collaborate on research projects as it relates to integrative medicine, which may include the responsibility of data collection for ongoing studies, and delivery of services for study protocols. The RIS may be involved with the preparation of scientific manuscripts and educational lectures.

Responsibilities
  • Provide integrative services to children, adolescents, and adults with cancer in both the inpatient and outpatient setting.
  • Attend medical and integrative rounds, complete chart documentation, and work within the medical team on a daily basis.
  • Collaborate on research projects relating to integrative medicine, including data collection for ongoing studies and delivery of services for study protocols. May participate in preparation of scientific manuscripts.
  • Offer integrative services such as acupuncture, acupressure, aromatherapy, massage, Pilates, and yoga to patients undergoing treatment for cancer, their families, and patients off therapy.
  • Adhere to the standards operating procedures set forth by ITP.
  • Report on weekly statistics per the reporting policies set forth by ITP.
  • Maintain daily documentation of patient encounters and charting.
  • Participate in research activities, including consenting and tracking of patients for ITP open clinical trials.
  • Contribute information, participate in media and video filming, and employee wellness program as part of ITP’s Healthy Monday Campaign.
  • Participate in preparation and presentation of educational lectures.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned or requested.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience required; plus, three years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience.
  • Hospital-based experience and a research background, preferred.
  • Holds dual license, certificate, or training in several integrative therapies including acupuncture, massage, Pilates, or yoga.
Other Requirements
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of pre-offer and post-offer background checks in accordance with NYC’s Fair Chance Act. Depending on the position, a drug screening and other verifications may be required. (University Policies)
  • Must successfully complete applicable compliance and systems training requirements.
  • HIPAA Privacy and Security Essentials Training.
  • Minimum 4-year degree, Master’s level education preferred.
  • Licensure/Certifications.
  • Licensed acupuncturist or massage therapist in the state of New York.
  • Malpractice insurance.
  • If a licensed acupuncturist, additional certification is required: Diplomat in Acupuncture or Oriental Medicine from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
