As a Research Infrastructure System Administrator within the Research Technology Infrastructure (RTI) team, you will support research at HMS by building, configuring, and maintaining the platforms, applications, and databases that enable reliable and secure research environments. You will administer researcher-facing tools and services, including application platforms such as Omero, Globus, and Redcap, web-hosted systems, and databases such as MySQL and Postgres. The role includes developing APIs, supporting HPC access platforms such as Open OnDemand, and implementing monitoring solutions to ensure system health. You will also contribute to infrastructure automation using modern DevOps practices such as containerization, distributed storage, and orchestration platforms. This role emphasizes operational support, independent problem‑solving, and collaborative project work in service of research activities.
This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some of the duties and responsibilities can be effectively performed at a non-Harvard location. The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its discretion and based upon operational needs. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University’s Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
