Job summary

Thinking Machines Lab Inc. in San Francisco, CA, seeks an experienced engineer to build the engineering foundations for post-training research teams. You will embed within a research team and build or improve the systems required for the team to succeed.

Responsibilities include designing, building, and operating infrastructure such as RL training systems, sandboxing, data pipelines, and agent scaffolding with a high degree of autonomy and ownership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Physics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
• Experience leading projects end to end in large fast-moving codebases.
• Strong proficiency in Python and engineering fundamentals with debugging scalable systems.
• Clear communication and ability to explain complex technical concepts in writing.
• Strong autonomous drive with an ownership mindset.

Responsibilities

• Embed within a research team to build, harden, and improve the systems and infrastructure for success.
