Job summary

Lilly in Indianapolis seeks a Research Informatics Platform Engineer to build AI and informatics tools for accelerating drug discovery. You will design architecture, deploy scalable services, and develop software to harness ML and computational tooling to assist researchers daily.

Role requires strong programming in Go/Rust/Java/C++, scripting (Python/JavaScript), and experience with containers, Kubernetes, RESTful APIs, TDD, and CI/CD.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in architecture and software engineering.
  • Experience designing and delivering scalable software platforms.

As a Lilly Research Informatics Platform Engineer, you will build cutting edge AI & Informatics tools with a team of passionate engineers to accelerate & enhance Lilly’s drug discovery process. You will be hands-on designing architecture, deploying scalable services/integrations, and developing novel software to harness the power of ML & computational tooling to assist researchers in their day-to-day work. You will collaborate closely with partners from Lilly Research Labs, AI, Software Engineering, and industry leading partners outside Lilly to accelerate medicine discovery for Lilly.

What You Should Bring

  • Go, Rust, Java, C++ or other OOP
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python/Javascript
  • Worked with Containers, Serverless, Kubernetes and other hosting targets
  • Understanding of HTTP and restful based APIs.
  • Experience applying test driven development methodologies to catch bugs early & prevent feature reversion.
  • Experience using CI tools to automatically test & CD tools to automatically deploy code updates.
  • Experience applying systems engineering concepts to distributed systems with high throughput & availability requirements.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in architecture and software engineering

Preferences

  • Master\'s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering
  • Proven track record of delivering complex, cross-functional IT solutions.

Location & Work Flexibility

This role is based at our Corporate Center in Indianapolis. We offer a flexible hybrid work model, with three days onsite and two days working remotely each week, supporting both collaboration and work‑life balance.

Remote employees will be considered for those not based near Indianapolis, IN.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

$132,000 - $244,200

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
