The laboratory of Ethylin W. Jabs, M.D., is seeking a Research Fellow to join a collaborative research program focused on understanding the clinical and molecular mechanisms underlying genomic and developmental conditions.
Dr. Jabs’ research focuses on genomic conditions involving structural craniofacial and limb anomalies. Her research team has characterized the phenotype and genotype of more than 50 rare and complex conditions, including the identification of mutations affecting homeobox and helix-loop-helix transcription factors, fibroblast growth factor receptors, and connexins. This work provides important insight into the pathogenic mechanisms through which genetic mutations contribute to human disease.
The Research Fellow will have the opportunity to contribute to research investigating:
This position provides an opportunity for a Research Fellow to participate in clinical, molecular, and translational research, connecting discoveries in human genetics with mechanistic studies and preclinical models. The successful candidate will work within a collaborative research environment focused on advancing our understanding of developmental biology and translating genomic discoveries into potential therapeutic approaches.
A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.
