Job summary

The LSU AgCenter's Reproductive Biology Center in St. Gabriel, Louisiana, is seeking a hands-on worker to operate farm equipment, care for animals and crops, and support routine maintenance.

This full-time role runs 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with occasional evenings or weekends. Compensation will be determined by qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

  • One year of experience in the care of animals.
  • The general care of crops, shrubs, or plants; or farm-related equipment and machinery operation.

Responsibilities

  • Operates complex farm machinery equipment such as tractors, lawnmowers, batwing rotary cutters, disk and cultipacker, hay cutters, hay rake, seed broadcaster, and equipment for chemical applications.
  • Maintains property and fences. Sprays fence line weeds, upkeeps hard and hotwire fences, repairs damaged gates or fences, builds new enclosures on property, maintains drainage ditches, mows pastures and lawn around shops and buildings.
  • Makes minor adjustments and repairs to farm equipment, lawn mowers, ATVs and tractors.
  • Assists with maintenance in shop areas, shade structures and main building.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Duties

Position-Specific Details
  • Appointment Type: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
  • Work Schedule: Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.Some nights and weekends may be needed.
  • Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
  • Location: Reproductive Biology Center, St. Gabriel, La.
  • This position is not eligible for remote employment.
