OpenAI is seeking a Research Engineer/Research Scientist for the Personal AGI, North Stars team based in San Francisco. The role offers a hybrid work model with relocation assistance.

You will help bring next-generation AI-enabled experiences to humanity by bridging power users and everyday users, focusing on tool-use, connectors, and instruction following. You will analyze bottlenecks in model behavior, translate insights into evaluations, training data, reward signals, and improvements;

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of machine learning and applications.
• Experience building evaluations for model capability improvement.
• Ability to debug in large ML codebases.
• Strong collaboration with research and product teams.

Responsibilities

• Own and pursue a research agenda to improve model capability and performance.
