Job summary

Sonova in Valencia, California is seeking an Engineer, Research to develop software and firmware for cochlear implant systems, collaborating with software developers, DSP engineers, scientists, and clinicians.

You will contribute to firmware/software development, verification, and documentation, with emphasis on C and C#/.NET, and you will learn medical-device quality systems to ensure compliant product releases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Completed engineering internship with embedded software development experience.

Responsibilities

• Support firmware and software development for cochlear implant systems and other implantable hearing solutions.
• Contribute to software codebases using C and C#/.NET under supervision of senior engineers.
• Assist with software verification activities, including unit and system testing.
• Troubleshoot software and system issues and participate in root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams using version control and best practices.
• Prepare and maintain software requirements, design docs, and test reports.
• Support research projects through prototyping, data collection and analysis.
• Learn and apply medical-device quality-system and regulatory requirements.
