Job summary

MaxIT Consulting – Max Corporate Group seeks a Research Engineer to build the training and environment infrastructure for a fast-growing AI company in San Francisco. You will develop scalable systems to support long-horizon agent evaluation, training and deployment pipelines with real enterprise relevance.

The role sits on a small founding team and offers hybrid work in SF, a permanent position, and mid-level responsibilities with ASAP start.

Qualifications

• 1–5 years of full-time experience (at least one year).
• Deep experience in distributed systems, containers/OS internals, ML infrastructure or model training.
• Experience with training or serving models at scale or building environments/benchmarks.
• Publication at a top venue (ICLR or NeurIPS).
• Built infrastructure that others depend on beyond a single research script.
• Professional English for daily technical collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Build checkpoint and restore of full machine state, including memory and GPU state, across many machines.
• Develop the environment orchestrator for thousands of environments in a multi-GPU cluster.
• Provision real cloud accounts for agents, with hundreds created/deleted on demand.
• Create realistic simulated companies for training and evaluation.
• Serve as the infrastructure foundation for research and deployed teams.
