Job summary

OpenAI in San Francisco is hiring a Research Engineer/Scientist for the North Stars team within the Personal AGI research organization. You will advance AI-enabled experiences by closing the capability gap between power users and the average consumer, focusing on tool-use, evaluations, and instruction following.

Work is based in San Francisco with a hybrid model (3 days in the office per week) and relocation assistance is offered to new employees.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of machine learning and ML applications.
• Working knowledge of relevant models and evaluation methods for model capability improvement.
• Comfort debugging a large ML codebase.

Responsibilities

• Own and pursue a research agenda to improve model capability and performance.
• Collaborate with research and product teams to enable customers to optimize their models.
• Build robust evaluations for tracking modeling improvements.
• Design, implement, test, and debug code across the research stack.
