Job summary

Normal Computing, an applied AI company building foundational hardware and software for the semiconductor industry, seeks a Research Engineer to push agentic LLMs and RL capabilities for Normal EDA. You will design experiments, build agents, curate complex datasets, and ship production-quality research code in collaboration with engineering teams.

Ideal candidates have a PhD in CS/AI/ML (or equivalent) with publications in multi-agent RL or agentic AI, strong Python and ML framework experience,

Qualifications

• PhD in CS/AI/ML (or equivalent research experience) with publications ideally in multi-agent RL, agentic AI, or RL for language/code.
• Strong Python and ML framework experience (PyTorch preferred; JAX/HF a plus).
• Demonstrated ability to turn research into working systems and ship results.

Responsibilities

• Build multi-agent systems for code generation that interact with EDA tools and verify flows.
• Create RL environments and evaluations for agents; design proxies and reward models.
• Generate and curate datasets from silicon collateral; maintain data cards and licenses.
• Analyze experiments, document results, and drive progress with rigour.
• Stay current on LLM agents, RL (offline/online, RLHF/RLAIF), and program synthesis.
