Are you the kind of person who has to know the story behind the story? Do you enjoy tracking down information that others can’t find? If so — this role was made for you.

We’re looking for a Research & Discovery Associate to join our growing team. You’ll play a vital role in helping our organization uncover key details about hard-to-reach individuals and assets, powering decisions and strategies that directly impact our business outcomes.

This isn’t a passive desk job. We need a motivated investigator — someone who thrives on chasing leads, connecting the dots, and getting to the truth no matter how deep you have to dig.

What You’ll Do

  • Investigate Leads: Research flagged contacts or assets to confirm details using a mix of online databases, public records, news archives, and creative problem solving.
  • Trace Relationships: Identify and verify key individuals connected to priority targets by leveraging obituaries, public filings, search platforms, and more.
  • Analyze Records: Review and interpret legal documents, ownership histories, and other public information to surface useful insights and potential barriers.
  • Skip Tracing: Utilize advanced tools to locate current contact details and addresses for individuals of interest.
  • Light Outreach: Place occasional calls to confirm identities or fill in missing pieces of the puzzle — think private investigator, not telemarketer.
  • Document Your Findings: Maintain accurate and thorough notes in our tracking system so the entire team can act on your discoveries.
  • Spot Patterns: Develop a sense for which leads are worth pursuing based on emerging trends and data cues you uncover.

Who You Are

  • Relentless: You don’t give up easily and know how to approach problems from multiple angles until you find an answer.
  • Inquisitive: Naturally curious — you love to learn, explore, and connect the dots.
  • Organized: You track your progress and details meticulously; accuracy matters in this role.
  • Tech-Comfortable: You’re familiar with online research, data platforms, and modern office tools — or eager to learn quickly.
  • Communicative: You can clearly explain what you’ve found and why it matters to others on the team.
  • Discreet: You understand the sensitivity of the information you’re working with and handle it responsibly.

Tools You May Use

  • Specialized search & skip-tracing platforms
  • Public record and legal document databases
  • Google Workspace & internal CRM
  • News archives, online maps, and open-source intelligence tools

Why You’ll Love This Role

  • You’ll get to use your natural curiosity and love of learning every day.
  • You’ll directly influence key decisions in our organization.
  • You’ll develop valuable research and analytical skills that can take your career in many directions.
  • You’ll be part of a collaborative, motivated, and fun team.
  • You’ll have room to grow — top performers may advance into leadership or specialized research positions as we expand.

NOTE: The role is in the Kansas City metropolitan area and will begin on-site at our client's beautiful offices. It may move to hybrid, but for now, it is an in-office role. All applicants must live and work in the KC Metro for consideration, and all applicants must be eligible to work in the US with no restrictions or sponsorship requirements. Thank you!
