Departmental Overview

The College of Engineering oversees the Marvell Nanofabrication Laboratory (NanoLab), an interdisciplinary, recharge semiconductor research facility housing over 170 pieces of equipment in a 15,000 sq. ft. ultra-clean environment. The lab supports research and education for more than 500 users.

This position plays a vital role in operations, providing engineering support for lab activities, including design, construction, testing, and maintenance of semiconductor equipment and systems, under minimal supervision.

Application Review Date

The first review of applications will occur on February 28, 2025, and will continue until the position is filled. The next review is scheduled for May 19, 2025.

Responsibilities
  1. Equipment and Process Development (30%): Design, modify, and upgrade equipment; develop recipes; collaborate with research staff; and contribute to tool reliability improvements.
  2. Equipment Troubleshooting and Repair (30%): Repair electronics, vacuum systems, gas delivery systems, temperature control systems, and control systems; diagnose issues; calibrate components.
  3. Experimental Equipment Support (15%): Design, assemble, test, and maintain complex experimental systems; manage preventative maintenance and spare parts.
  4. Technical Advice and Documentation (10%): Provide engineering guidance; maintain equipment records; write manuals and reports.
  5. Safety and Procedures (5%): Develop and follow safety protocols; ensure environmental safety.
  6. Training and Supervision (5%): Train staff and students; support staff development.
  7. Business Processes (5%): Implement related business procedures as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and procedures.
  • Strong organizational, decision-making, and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Degree in science or engineering, or equivalent experience in semiconductor equipment support.
  • Experience with electronic circuits, PC/logic control, mechanical systems, vacuum components, gas delivery, and thin film deposition equipment.
Salary & Benefits

The salary range is $80,400 to $112,900 annually, commensurate with experience. The position is full-time, exempt, and includes comprehensive benefits.
