Job summary

University of Copenhagen is seeking a Research Data Manager for DELPHI within the CBMR to curate and manage multi-modal data from the Danish Precision Health Initiative. You will develop data quality controls, automate workflows, and ensure data remains usable for researchers.

Qualifications

Research Data Manager for the Danish Precision Health Initiative

We are looking for a curiosity driven research Data Manager to support the data collection, quality control, and preparation for use of the Danish Precision Health Initiative (DELPHI) at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR). The start date is November 1, 2026, or after agreement.

DELPHI is a pioneering cohort study involving 10,000 individuals and generating rich, multi-modal data, spanning clinical, omics, imaging, sensor, and socio-behavioral data. Through a suite of integrated digital tools and platforms, these data are harmonized and brought together in a centralized research platform.

The ideal candidate has strong expertise in data curation and a proactive mindset, with a natural curiosity to enhance our real-time data acquisition and processing workflows.

About Us

DELPHI was established in 2022 by Professor Ruth Loos and opened for recruitment in April 2025. You will become part of a team of 12, led by Head of DELPHI Karina Husted, comprising research nurses, exercise physiologists, a radiographer, laboratory technicians and operating manager. Together, the team is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the study and for collecting high-quality phenotypic data.

DELPHI is embedded within the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research. CBMR was established in 2010 at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, and has been located in the Maersk Tower at the Panum complex since 2017. DELPHI’s Phenotyping Center occupies dedicated facilities at Panum, within a five-minute walk of CBMR’s offices in the Maersk Tower.

Given the scale and complexity of DELPHI’s data collection, your role will be fully dedicated to the study. You will also work closely with the Data Analytics Platform, which provides data management support across the Center.

The Data Analytics Platform operates an on-premises high-performance compute cluster, plays a leading role in the CBMR’s commercial cloud activities and facilitates access to a range of external research compute resources.

Your job

Your primary responsibilities will be data cleaning and data curation to ensure that data remains useful, understandable, accessible, and reusable over time. You will play a key role in developing and maintaining automated data quality control and curation workflows. We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in both the science questions and the technologies that underpin the study’s data collection and management infrastructure.

The working language in DELPHI is Danish, whereas you will be using English when you engage with DAP and the researchers at CBMR.

Your Profile

• Master’s degree or higher in software engineering, computer science, bioinformatics or a related field; alternatively, a bachelor’s degree paired with several years of work experience in a relevant position
• Strong programming skills with an object-oriented language
• Demonstrated experience in automating data (processing) workflows
• Proven experience with code version control
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, with the ability to share knowledge and expertiseProficient in Danish (at DELPHI, the working language is Danish)
• Decent written and oral communication skills in English
• Curious, pro-active and solution-oriented.

Desirable Criteria

• Experience in statistics, data cleaning or quality control
• Experience in accessing or storing data in databases
• Understanding of data processing under GDPR regulations
• Familiarity with management of research data

Place of employment

The place of employment is the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research. You will be affiliated with the DELPHI team but work closely together with the Data Analytics Platform.

Terms of salary and employment

The employment is as a full-time Data Manager (AC-TAP FU) limited to three years. The start date is November 1, 2026, or after agreement. Employment will be as Academic Research Officer or Academic Research Consultant in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experience and qualifications. When you will be affiliated with the University of Copenhagen or otherwise have access to their research, you may be required to undergo a background screening. The purpose is to protect the security and research integrity of the University of Copenhagen.
