Research Data Analyst - Residential Insights

We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Research Data Analyst to join our client, a leading natural gas provider in Portland, OR. The role involves analyzing residential energy consumption patterns, assessing neighborhood energy needs, and providing data-driven insights for strategic planning and customer engagement.

Important Details

• This is a 6-month contract, part-time role, working 20 hours/week.
• Pay rate: $45/hr.
• Primarily remote with occasional in-office days for presenting data and findings.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Collection & Analysis: Gather and analyze residential energy data, demographic info, and neighborhood characteristics to identify consumption trends.
• Predictive Modeling: Develop models to forecast energy demand considering socioeconomic factors, housing types, and seasonal variations.
• Reporting & Visualization: Create reports and visualizations for internal stakeholders.
• Program Support: Collaborate with teams to design and evaluate energy efficiency programs.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Present insights clearly to non-technical audiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Environmental Science, Energy Management, or related field.
• At least 2 years of data analysis experience, preferably in energy or utilities sectors.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, Excel; experience with Tableau or Power BI is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with machine learning and anomaly detection in energy data.
• Knowledge of energy efficiency programs, smart meter data, and industry standards.
• Relevant certifications in data analysis or energy management are advantageous.
