Under the direction of the Program and Project Supervisor, the incumbent will develop and utilize research techniques, including spatial and statistical analysis, to inform broadband policy. Responsibilities include handling complex statistical data, developing systems for data collection and validation, and ensuring data accuracy.

Working Conditions

This advertisement is specifically for Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Sacramento locations. All identified locations will be considered as one candidate pool to fill one position.

This position is advertised as Limited-term for 12 months; it may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent. The position requires travel.

Positions at the CPUC may be eligible for telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible California residents, subject to meeting telework criteria.

Minimum Requirements

Refer to the Class Specification for detailed minimum requirements for the RESEARCH DATA ANALYST I.

Prepare and submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) addressing the following:

  1. Describe your experience with spatial analysis, data validation, and policy-informed research.
  2. Describe your experience with thematic/demographic data analysis using GIS, Access, R, Excel, Tableau, etc.
  3. Describe your communication skills in technical writing and oral presentations.

Ensure your SOQ is no longer than two pages, single-spaced, 11-point Arial font, and provides specific examples.
