Job summary

UCLA in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Research Data Analyst 1 to support ongoing studies by combining bioinformatics analysis, NGS quality control, and statistical evaluation of molecular data. You will work under the PI and senior staff to maintain clinical and specimen datasets using REDCap.

The role is full-time and onsite, with a pay scale of $33.09–$65.77 per hour. Schedule runs 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and the campus location is 10833 Le Conte Ave Dentistry, School of Dentistry.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft applications.
• Ability to work in a team and without supervision.
• Ability to create and maintain records accurately.
• Ability to communicate effectively to convey experimental results in a research environment.
• Experience with basic bioinformatic analysis (DNA/RNA sequencing).
• Experience with bioinformatic frameworks including R and Python.
• Ability to perform statistical analyses of molecular data.
• Expertise in sequence and metadata organization.

Responsibilities

• Assist with bioinformatics analysis of virome sequencing data.
• Perform statistical analyses supporting research findings.
• Organize and maintain patient and molecular databases.
• Manage and analyze next-generation sequencing (NGS) data.
• Conduct quality control procedures for sequencing datasets.
• Align virome sequencing results to virome reference databases.
• Maintain associated clinical and specimen metadata through REDCap and public repositories.
• Maintain accurate research records for ongoing projects.
• Contribute to NGS and PCR data analyses.
• Provide data management and analytical support for active research work.
