Job summary

The Regents of the University of California on behalf of their Los Angeles Campus invites applications for a Data Research Analyst 1 to support bioinformatics analyses of virome sequencing data under the supervision of the PI and senior lab personnel.

Responsibilities include managing NGS data, performing quality control, and maintaining clinical and specimen metadata through REDCap, with collaboration on ongoing research projects.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft applications.
• Ability and desire to work as part of a team and to work without technical supervision.
• Ability to create and maintain records accurately.
• Ability to communicate effectively to convey experimental results; previous experience in a research environment.
• Experience with basic bioinformatic analysis (DNA/RNA sequencing).
• Experience with bioinformatic frameworks (R, Python).
• Ability to perform statistical analyses of molecular data.
• Expertise in sequence and metadata organization.
• Demonstrated knowledge of genetics, molecular biology and biochemical principles. (Preferred)

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) and senior laboratory personnel, the Data Research Anl 1 will assist with bioinformatics analysis of virome sequencing data, statistical analyses, and the organization of patient and molecular databases. Key responsibilities include managing and analyzing next-generation sequencing (NGS) data, performing quality control procedures, aligning data to virome reference databases, and maintaining associated clinical and specimen metadata through REDCap and public repositories. The Research Data Analyst 1 will also maintain accurate research records, contribute to NGS and PCR data analyses, and provide data management and analytical support for ongoing research projects.

Salary & Compensation
