The Department of Anesthesiology is looking for a Research Coordinator I for Dr. Turan's lab. Dr. Turan's main interests are perioperative outcomes, postoperative pain, regional anesthesia, and persistent surgical pain.

Position Summary

Assists with human subject research project conduct and management, including participant recruitment and data collection, entry, management, and analysis. Assists with research project logistics, maintaining records, preparing reports, and meeting research milestones and deadlines.

Key Accountabilities
  • Under supervision, assist with human subjects research activities such as participant recruitment, informed consent, data collection through surveys, interviews, observations, ensuring compliance with study protocols.
  • Organize, clean, and maintain databases to ensure accurate data entry and prepare data for analysis under close supervision.
  • Maintain confidential records of collected data, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and data integrity. Support the Data Management Sharing (DMS) plan.
  • Prepare annual progress reports and applications for various committees, ensuring staff have received proper training.
  • Assist in the preparation of progress and annual reports and grant proposals to various funding agencies; collaborate with the Office of Sponsored Projects on grant submissions.
  • May assist with regulatory submissions (e.g., Institutional Review Board, FDA).
  • Assist investigators with quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including creation of figures, tables, and graphs, and help prepare research papers, presentations, and reports for academic publications and conferences.
  • Conduct reviews of academic journals and databases to gather relevant articles and publications to support manuscript preparation.
  • Assist with the preparation of budgets, review re‑budgeting needs and expenditures, attend research‑planning meetings to prepare budget drafts for departmental leadership approval, and assist with invoicing.
  • Assist in preparing for and responding to site monitoring visits, audits, and inspections.
  • May be responsible for maintaining study materials (e.g., test kits, investigational drugs, devices).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently, or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

  • Position is security‑sensitive pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094.
  • Requires research, work on, or access to critical infrastructure as defined in Texas Business and Commerce Code §117.001(2).
  • Ability to maintain security or integrity of critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification.
  • Personnel in such positions will be routinely reviewed to determine if criminal history or continuous connections to foreign adversaries may prevent maintaining security.
  • Foreign adversary is a nation listed in 15 C.F.R.
